Adoption profiles

Here you will find wonderful rabbits, saved by the shelter, and now waiting for adoption at local foster homes. We hope that some of these buns will find a home faster than I can type this info. In that case, you may find a different bunny waiting than described here.

Unfortunately, our foster sites are always full. The shelter can become overwhelmed at any time, and by adopting, you'll be saving a life. If you have ever considered adopting another rabbit, the time is now. No bun should live alone.

FryeHi I'm Frye a 2 year old Male New Zealand/Flemish mix rabbit. I'm a BIG white bunny and very handsome if I do say so myself! Well, people tell me I'm handsome! I am very easy going and I don't mind if there is a cat or dog around or even some kids. I am usually a happy bunny but I recently lost my home and I don't know why....I have always been a good bunny. I really like humans, I like when they pet me or just hang out with me for a while. I don't mind being picked up but I prefer to keep my feet on the ground. I would love to meet you, even if you have never had a bunny before....I can show you how special we are!!

Windy Windy is a lovely 5-pound bun who has made wonderful progress on her trust of people. She loves when her foster mom pets her and waits patiently for her dinner without complaining. And, she will let you pick her up briefly. She is very curious and cannot resist checking you out. Windy has been waiting a long time for her forever home. She has shown us that with a little TLC she is a friendly loveable girl. She would still do best in a home without little children. Please give us a call if you would like to meet Windy.

Coco (male) Coco (male)
Coco is a 3 year old male, chocolate brown rabbit. Coco gained some weight while in the shelter but now he is eating a healthy diet and getting lots of exercise..He is looking great!! Coco is a playful bun, he loves cardboard tubes to chew on, boxes to jump on or rest in or push around his pen. He likes his big jingle ball he can throw or push. He is happy and friendly. Coco is a very sweet boy, he has great litter box habits and he would be a nice rabbit for a first time bunny caretaker.

AbbyAbby is a 1.5 year old Agouti female. She was transferred from one shelter to another and is now in HRC care where she will finally be able to find a forever home. She a very playful - playing all the time with all of her toys!! She is such a friendly girl and enjoys the company of humans! Abby is a beautiful rabbit with gorgeous eyes.


  • Barney Barney came from a large surrender in Winchendon, MA where 38 rabbits were rescued from someone's backyard. He has become a great indoor bunny now! Barney is about 8 months old as of September 08. He is a male English Spot mix rabbit & his sister Betty was recently adopted through HRC and has a wonderful home and a new boyfriend. Barney had been at the MSPCA in Springfield MA for more than 4 months. He is a friendly guy and he's as cute as can be. He may be the perfect addition to your household!

    Bo This is Bo, A very large White & Black Lop bunny boy. He is sweet and cuddly!
    ADOPTION PENDING

    Daria    -  Daria is an 8.5 pound White New Zealand rabbit who was seized, along with over 30 other rabbits, by the Buffalo, NY, SPCA in a cruelty and neglect case in August. Daria came into HRC care via the Bunderground Railroad the middle of September. She has been spayed and is being socialized in her current foster home. This lovely girl will be two years old in November. She is understandably somewhat timid around humans at this point in time, having never been treated kindly. Daria will thrive with an adopter who is experienced with rabbits--one who knows how to win over a bun who has never known love. She’d do well in a home where she can have lots of exercise to build up her muscle mass after being confined to a small cage her entire life. She is good with her litter box and a very sweet bun. If you can provide nurture and space, Daria would love to meet you!
    please note: Dariae does not, unfortunately, have flashlight eyes...just a 'normal' bun with pink eyes that do not always photograph well ...

    Thistle & Iris

    Meet Thistle and Iris, two rabbits who came into HRC via the Springfield MSPCA after living in a hoarding situation. This nice bonded pair is warming up quickly to their foster mom. Thistle is a 4.5 pound male Jersey Woolley, and Iris is an 8.5 pound up-eared mix with a coat as sleek as Thistle’s is fluffy. Both buns have been socialized with small dogs. We do not recommend this pair for a home with small children, at least right now, as Iris still carries some baggage from her previous life and will bite if she feels threatened. These two would do well in an adult home with a caregiver who has time to keep Thistle’s coat in good shape with daily grooming and willing to lavish extra attention on Iris to win her trust.

    Bonnie & Clyde Bonnie & Clyde are 9 month old (as of 10/08) lionhead mixes. They are agouti in color and have tiny little manes. Their owner no longer had time for them, so they were left at the MSPCA. HRC has taken them in and we are happy that they will be able to stay together and find their forever home.     Sam with Peter HRC member Sam enjoys socializing the rabbits at the MSPCA (the rabbits enjoy her company too!). HRC is always looking for more volunteers to do the same!

    Animal shelters have limited space for rescuing rabbits. Many rabbits face the possibility of euthanasia. Please consider fostering or adopting a house rabbit as a companion. Adopting a rescued rabbit from the HRC makes room for another shelter rabbit to be placed in HRC foster care. Call the Hopline at (413) 525-9222

    Former HRC foster bunnies (now a happily bonded pair), Sadie & Elliott play with their Busy Bunny Ball treat/pellet dispensing toy.  They act like a "tag-team" when it comes to how they get their pellets.  With every nudge and roll of the ball, pellets fall out from one of the two openings, making them work & play for their food.  A wonderful must-have for everybun!
